How to solve word search puzzles?

Word searches are pretty much straightforward. The goal of the game is to find all the words from the word list in the letter grid.

First of all, look at the word list provided below the letter grid. Next, choose a word to find. Scan the grid to find the word. Once you’ve found it circle or highlight the word. Then cross the word off the list and move on to the next one. It is that simple!

Strategy tips to solve a word search puzzle

Try the following tips to solve word searches without wasting your time scanning the same parts of the grid several times.

  • Scan each row and column. Start at the top left of the word search puzzle and scan each row of the letter grid back and forth to find the horizontal words. Next, scan each column up and down to find the vertical words. This strategy will help you find the majority of the words.
  • Use a pen or finger. Run a pen or your finger along each line to help you search.
  • Search for less-common letters. Seek out words that have unique letters in them, such as J, Q, X, Y, or Z. Then check the surrounding letters to see if the word you’re looking for is there.
  • Search for double letters. If there is a word with double letters, search for letter pairs in the grid.
